Hi guys,

I just took a look at the other blogs and - no surprise - everyone has the same background theme :(

  1. Hm, let's choose something different then. Are there any votes for any one in particular?

    1. Sorry! I was playing around with the different themes and I accidently clicked the "apply to blog" button for the background you see now. Unfortunately with that, all of the layout changes we had for the previous theme looks like they've been lost...

      I don't know if you guys want to keep this theme or maybe go with something else, but please let us all know what you think!

      Also, we are able to upload our own images to use as a background. If anyone wants to use an image that Blogger does not provide as default, go ahead and upload it!

    2. If you guys want to go back to our old theme and design again, I'd understand. I know we all worked together to create it. Again, I'm sorry.

    3. I think it looks fine this way, that way we can be as original as possible. I would like to change the color though (I'm not very fond of yellow) but if everyone is okay with yellow then I will leave it as is.

    4. I added a picture for the header. I think this would also work with the previous background (books). If you guys want it removed, just let me know.

  2. I love the picture for the header but it seems a little huge? Is there a way to make it smaller without disrupting the template? I went and changed the width of the blog and changed the font on the blog post label. Also I was thinking the date post font could be changed but I was having trouble finding which part that was in the advanced tab.

  3. I like the picture for the header but it does seem a bit big to me. I don't want to mess up the picture so I was afraid to mess with it. For some reason I couldn't get the font to change for the dates either. Last time I changed it in the gadgets section but when I click on it, it didn't change anything.

  4. Alright everyone. So I've made some changes with the header image. I couldn't figure out how to adjust the size so I uploaded a smaller image for us entirely (for future reference, this can be done using the "layout" option on the Blogger homepage [on the left between "campaigns" and "templates"]).

    However, using the header image we had had its cost. It was not easy to read our blog's title (in white) against this image and Blogger's editor is very limited. Fonts you use cannot be outlined and so I had to think of making up my own. What I ended up doing was setting our blog titles font size to 0, essentially making it invisible, and instead used a photo editing program to add in my own title for our header (one with a shadow to help distinguish the text from the image).

    Basically, there is no typed text for our header in its current state and instead the text is part of the image itself. If anyone does not like the font I chose please tell me! I can go back into the photo editing program and add whatever text you guys would like.

  5. And just to update everyone, we are still waiting for Itza to accept her invitation. Also, thank you guys for continuing to work hard on our blog even when I did screw it all up.

    Thanks.

  6. And Angela, the "gadgets" option to edit the font for our dates should be working. Let me know if they don't!

  7. I found that there were certain text on our blog that couldn't be edited for some reason (as Angela had pointed out earlier). The only way I thought to fix this was to revert all of the HTML code to default. We unfortunately have yellow font again but now anyone is able to change the font and size of post titles. For some reason, there isn't code written that allows us to change the color of the post title automatically. As a result, anyone who wants to change the color of the post title text will have to under Advance > Add CSS option and copy and past this code:

    .post-title{
    color: black !important;
    }
    .post-title a{
    color: black !important;
    }

    To change the color, you simply replace the word "black" with whatever color you would like.

    1. You say you keep messing it up Riley but I think it is all a work in progress and that is the point! Thanks for being so descriptive in your replies, I'm learning a lot about this program just from you!

  8. I don't think the picture is too big, but if you guys do, you're welcome to replace it. The website I found it on is unsplash.com but I'm sure there are tons of options out there. Riley, do you know how to add multiple pictures in the header? Maybe we can create a collage of pictures intead to replace the big one? If you look on unsplash.com there are several cool pictures

  9. I think the blog looks great! I apologize for being so late to the party. This is a whole new world for me and I must admit I feel a little angst about it -- the demon behind the tardiness. I'll continue to tool around on it. Riley, the notes/screen grabs are very helpful, thank you!
